Buddies, Thokozani Khuphe and Abednico Bhebhe, not ready to talk to Chamisa

By Paul Nyathi

Want out MDC-T National Organising Secretary Abednico Bhebhe has described the new party President Nelson Chamisa’s behaviour as that of the 1980s ZANU PF initiated Gukurahundi mass murderers.

Speaking on VOA Studio Seven’s Livetalk program on Monday evening, Bhebhe said that he is not prepared to engage in any talks with Chamisa who sends people to attack party leaders from Matabeleland then invite them for negotiations.

Bhebhe said that the last time he saw a similar behaviour was during the ZANU PF led Gukurahundi era where twenty thousand people were killed by the soldiers before the perpetrators invited the victims into truce negotiations.

“We can not talk to people who behave like the Gukurahundi which butchered 20 000 people then invited for negotiations to end the killings,” said Bhebhe.

“The very same people who are calling us for negotiations are the same ones that are sending thugs to beat us up as Matabeleland people and expect us to negotiate with them to stop beating us,” fumed Bhebhe.

The outspoken MDC-T senior official was referring to a weekend incident where the party supporters were involved in a bloody battle at the party offices in Bulawayo.

Bhebhe is adamant that the people who attacked them while they were in a meeting at the offices were dispatched from Harare to attack them.

On the other hand rival members claim that Bhebhe hired the thugs from South Africa to come and attack them in a planned move to disgrace new party leader Nelson Chamisa.

The MDC-T has since dispatched a team of investigators to investigate the violence.
