A mentally challenged Chivi man axed his mother to death following a domestic dispute, according to the police.

The man accused his mother of denying him permission to build his hut at a place he had chosen.

Acting Masvingo Provincial Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Kudakwashe Dehwa said the tragic incident happened on March 22, 2018.

“A mentally challenged man struck his mother, Esther Davirai with an axe following a domestic dispute.

The man also axed his younger brother several times as he tried to restrain him from attacking their mother.

However the younger brother was rushed to hospital,” said Dehwa.
