Seasoned politician and Masvingo State Minister, Josaya Dunira Hungwe has been fingered in an alleged plot to rig the Masvingo Urban Constituency primary election.

Impeccable sources claimed yesterday Hungwe influenced party members responsible for monitoring the primary elections to rig the polls in favour of Goddard Dunira.

Dunira is Hungwe’ s cousin who is vying for the Masvingo Urban Parliamentary Seat.

Party sources claimed last night party officials fraudulently brought ballot boxes to various polling centres in Masvingo Urban Constituency after being instructed by Hungwe to do so.

“Having realised that Dunira was losing the race Hungwe summoned some senior party members to his house where he instructed them to tamper with the ballot boxes,” said the sources.

Hungwe was not immediately available for a comment on the matter.
