By Paul Nyathi|Opposition MDC Alliance coalition presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa has challenged President Emmerson Mnangagwa to open up the national broadcaster the ZBC to open up and allow for a public debate ahead of the harmonised elections set for July 30.

Speaking on the opposition party”s electoral reforms demonstration set for the capital on Tuesday, Chamisa said that President Mnangagwa is not prepared to open up the airwaves because he knows that he will not survive an open public debate against him.

“Our planned demonstration is a demand for electoral reforms which will pave way for free and fair elections,” said Chamisa in his official Twitter page.

“We can’t speak of a free and fair election when Zanu PF abuses and monopolises ZBC,”

“Mnangagwa knows he would not survive a week of free and factual speech,” said Chamisa.

President Mnangagwa is on record declaring that the ZBC will only open up for private players after the 2018 elections.

The opposition MDC Alliance has organised a mass demonstration to be held in Harare on Tuesday against failures to effect full electoral reforms in the recently gazetted Electoral Act amendments.

The demonstration to be led by Chamisa will present a petition to the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission and another to President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
