The MDC National Organising Department has refused to accept Masvingo Provincial Chairperson James Gumbi’ s resignation letter.

Gumbi resigned from the province’ s top post on Monday claiming he was struggling to cope with incessant commitments.

“The National Organising Secretary Honourable Amos Chibaya who is responsible for party structures has refused to accept the resignation letter from Mr James Gumbi, as such he remains in his position until the next Congress.
Be advised accordingly,” the party said in a brief statement yesterday.

Party sources yesterday claimed Gumbi had been forced to step down due to pressure from party members who accused him of imposing an individual who lost the primary election in Masvingo Urban Constituency.
