Independent aspiring candidate for Masvingo Urban Constituency, Sam Chapfudza is likely to beat his rivals in the July 31 election, analysts have said.

Although the general trend of elections in Zimbabwe depicts that independent candidates find it difficult to win, political analysts in the ancient city believe Chapfudza will romp to victory on July 30.

Chapfudza will battle it out against Zanu PF’ s Benjamin Taguma Mazarire, Jacob Nyokanhete of the MDC Alliance, Francis Nyakurita (People’s Rainbow Coalition) and Mike Taderera of NPF.A total of nine candidates will contest in the constituency.

“So far independent candidate Sam Chapfudza is ahead of his rivals. I listened to his presentation at a Public Debate held last night. He managed to articulate social ills in the local community,” said a Masvingo based lecturer.

“People are concerned about topical issues not else,” said a Masvingo based lawyer.
