28 August 2018
By Own Correspondent|Lands, Agriculture and Rural Resettlement Minister Perrance Shiri has called on farmers to stop using the sanctions mantra to defend low productivity adding that sanctions had nothing to do with farming and productivity.
Shiri said farmers had other resources such as water and land which have nothing to do with sanctions.
Said Shiri:
“Sanctions have nothing to do with our farming and productivity so we should free ourselves in that sector.
We can perform better even when we have sanctions. We have land, water and other resources that would enable us to enhance productivity.”
Shiri also said there are a lot of opportunities in farming that farmers need to take up to generate foreign currency from exports.-StateMedia
