By Own Correspondent| Zanu Pf’s Advocate Jacob Mudenda has been elected the Speaker of Parliament for the 9th Parliament.

Mudenda won the election against MDC Alliance’s Paurina Mpariwa after garnering 179 votes ahead of Mpariwa’s 79 votes.

At least 5 ballots were spoiled in the election which was pitted in favour of Zanu Pf who have a two thirds majority in parliament.

Mudenda was the Speaker for the 8th Parliament and has been praised by President Emmerson Mnangagwa for the instrumental role he played leading to the resignation of former President Robert Mugabe.
