By Dorrothy Moyo| Another ZRP cop, this time a female, has been found dead following a loud gunshot.

The incident happened outside ZRP Southlea Park in Harare, ZimEye is told.

Below is the official ZRP memo following the shooting:

MEMORANDUM SUBJECT: SUICIDE BY SHOOTING OF JOYCE MUTASA AT ZRP SOUTHLEA PARK, WATERFALLS, HARARE.

This memorandum serves to place on record circumstances and initial investigations carried out on the above subject matter. Informant: Christopher Takura aged 34 years; Force number 056672Z Rank Sergeant Joyce Mutasa 34 years, based at ZRP Southlea Park, Harare. (Force number 984910D Rank Constable)

Circumstances On 11 September 2018 at around 1400 hours, the now deceased commenced duty at ZRP Southlea Park. Informant who was the In Charge shift one deployed the now deceased at the main gate. The now deceased booked a FN rifle serial number 12434 with a magazine of ten rounds in the occurrence book entry number 10274/18 which she would use at the guard duties.

At around 1940 hours, Constable Muganda (075306D), Constable Marwa (081634G) who were in the charge office heard a gunshot sound from outside the charge office.

At the same time Constable Zimutemera (990713L) had gone out to check for the now deceased so that they could go home together since they were about to knock off duty at 2000 hours. She went to the car, a Toyota Spacio registration number ADS 8644 white in colour where the now deceased was and called her but with no response. She then opened the passenger’s door and found the now deceased sitting on the driver’s seat facing down with some blood stains on her trousers.

She then went back to the office and advised the informant. Constable Marwa, Constable Muganda and the informant went to the motor vehicle to investigate. The informant opened the driver’s door and found the now deceased sitting on the driver’s seat facing downwards. He observed some blood stains on the now deceased’s trousers. The informant made a Police report at ZRP Southlea Park.
