By Own Correspondent| A former Zimbabwe Republic Police officer, Claudius Muzvimba (35) formerly of Avondale Police Station was convicted of 104 counts of fraud by Harare Magistrate Francis Mapfumo.

Muzvimba who was found in possession of fake traffic offence fines receipt books (Z69J) claimed that he had been given the books by his superiors for use in receipting traffic fines at roadblocks.

However, magistrate Mapfumo dismissed his claim saying:

“There is no way the money which was collected using fake books was handed over to the administration.

The receipt books were printed somewhere with criminal intention to swindle the motorists and government…The fake books were used concurrently with the original receipt books and the whole purpose of printing the Z69J was to make sure the money will not be remitted to the government.”

Muzvimba who was arrested after the police audited his books will be sentenced today.-Newsday
