Terrence Mawawa|The MDC Alliance has urged the new ZIFA leadership to utilise the popularity of the ” beautiful game ” to unite the fragmented nation.

See the MDC A statement below:
The MDC has been following the ZIFA Elections with interest given that soccer is a national sport of
interest and significance.

We hope the new leadership will promote nationwide grassroots soccer development.Soccer can be a contributor to the entertainment
industry in Zimbabwe and has suffered through years of lack of leadership and manipulation by
those who used the game for personal aggrandizement.

If this industry is managed properly, it can generate significant employment and opportunities for capable young people who only need a chance to pursue the best in themselves.

The youths of this country need
a chance to use their skills to earn a living.Soccer can unite the nation and contribute to the broader Nation Building Agenda.

The MDC congratulates the new executive lead by Felton Kamambo as president and Gift Banda as
vice president. We expect both leaders- in particular, Gift Banda to restore the pride of Zimbabwe and restoration of our powerhouse status.
We wish them well in their quest to transform football. A lot needs to be done including grassroots and junior football development, infrastructure
attention and more importantly ensuring professionalism and transparency in order to have
corporate buy in and general endorsement of the sport.

The MDC smart councils have begun to move towards the building of state of the art stadiums that meet international standards, with Harare leading in that regard. We believe in sport, as much as we believe in
Zimbabwe’s capacity to be a powerhouse globally as long as those who lead the nation follow the will of the people.Behold the New. Change that Delivers!
