By Own Correspondent| The Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe will tommorow continue with its protest where they will be camped at Finance minister Professor Mthuli Ncube’s offices.
The development follows a deadlock between government and teachers at the National Joint Negotiating Council meeting held on January 7 2019.
The ARTUZ said it was disappointed by the lack of seriousness and commitment to the welfare of the civil servants by the government.
Said the teachers body in a statement:
“At a meeting held at the Civil Service Commission on 7 January 2019 between civil servants from various sectors and government, ARTUZ was disturbed by the following:
1) The Central Bank Governor John Mangudya is adamant that government will not be paying civil servants in United States of America Dollars even though it allows goods and services to be traded in that currency.
2) Mangudya repeats the insult that the United States of America Dollar is equivalent to the Zimbabwe Bond Currency.
3) The Acting Minister of Labour and Social Services July Moyo gave no assurances on salary increments and full payment of 2018 bonuses
We thus reached a deadlock.
Meanwhile the ARTUZ salary camp continues in Harare.”
