By Own Correspondent| The Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe has revealed that its protest is set to continue following a deadlock between g9vernment and teachers at the National Joint Negotiating Council meeting held on January 7 2019.
The ARTUZ said in a statement:
“The Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union notes with disappointment the lack of seriousness and commitment to the welfare of the civil servants by the government.
At a meeting held at the Civil Service Commission on 7 January 2019 between civil servants from various sectors and government, ARTUZ was disturbed by the following:
1) The Central Bank Governor John Mangudya is adamant that government will not be paying civil servants in United States of America Dollars even though it allows goods and services to be traded in that currency.
2) Mangudya repeats the insult that the United States of America Dollar is equivalent to the Zimbabwe Bond Currency.
3) The Acting Minister of Labour and Social Services July Moyo gave no assurances on salary increments and full payment of 2018 bonuses
We thus reached a deadlock.
Meanwhile the ARTUZ salary camp continues in Harare.”
