Farai Dziva| The European Union has maintained sanctions on former President Robert Mugabe and his wife, Grace.

However former Police Commissioner General Augustine Chihuri and former head of the Central Intelligence Organisation, Happyton Bonyongwe have been removed from the EU sanctions list.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information Permanent Secretary Nick Mangwana commented on the development:
“On the issue of EU sanctions, it’s encouraging that the EU has vindicated the President’s engagement and re-engagement policy by not escalating sanctions as campaigned for by some of our own citizens. “
