By Own Correspondent|A Gweru Provincial magistrate today acquitted opposition National Youth Chairman, Happymore Chidziva on charges of inciting public violence.
Chidziva was arrested during the police and army crackdown in the aftermaths of the January 14 2019 fuel protests.
Said the MDC Information Department:
National Youth Chairperson Happymore Chidziva was today acquitted by a Gweru magistrate over charges of inciting public violence in relation to the 1st of August murder of 7 civilians by men in army uniform.
Meanwhile, in the case of the MDC Deputy Chief of Staff, Zvavamwe David Shambare and 37 others who were being charged for causing public violence in the 1st of August attack on civilians by men in army uniforms, all bail conditions have been relaxed. Shambare and 37 others will appear before the magistrate on the 27th of March for routine remand.
In the case of the ZCTU stay away, ward 16 Councillor Denford Ngadziore’s bail application will be heard on Wednesday at the magistrate’s court.
