Own Correspondent|Reports from the National Sports Stadium in Harare indicate that one female Warriors fan was killed in a stampede into the stadium ahead of the crunch Zimbabwe Warriors and Congo AFCON Qualifier on Sunday afternoon.

ZimEye.com sources at the stadium said the female soccer fan was crushed to death as fans wrestled to find their way into the stadium after stadium management failed yet again to control access into the giant venue.

The Zimbabwe Football Association ZIFA put the match tickets on advance sale three weeks ago with the hope that they would be able to control fans after a similar stampede was experienced at the last Warriors match at the same venue.

Minutes before the start of the match, thousands of soccer fans were still queing outside the stadium forcing for a stampede which saw the woman lose her step and fall resulting in scores of people trampling on her until she died on the spot.

Zimbabwean soccer fans are known for never making into the stadia in time for their matches forcing for jostling just before kick off.
