Own Correspondent|The Local Government Ministry has issued a press statement clarifying reports alleging that a volcano erupted in Bikita, Masvingo province.

Bikita District Administrator, Bernard Hadzirabwi dismissed speculation doing  rounds on social media that there was a volcanic eruption or simmering in Matekenya Hills in Chief Ziki’s area

Hadzibarwi who had his men on the ground said instead there was a huge rockfall and the friction caused fire and a lot of smoke which villagers thought was a volcano.

The rockfall resulted in cracks on two houses within the vicinity of the mountain although no one was injured from the incident.
