Jane Mlambo| Zanu PF has never hidden its desire to have MDC Secretary General Douglas Mwonzora take over the party presidency from the youthful Nelson Chamisa.
With Mwonzora having pulled out of the race, Zanu PF is the biggest loser as their leader Emmerson Mnangagwa is definitely going to square off again with Chamisa in the 2023 general elections, something they were hoping to escape through supporting the embattled party Secretary General.
In announcing his pullout from the race, Mwonzora said he is now going for the Secretary General position as he has unfulfilled business.
The news of Mwonzora pullout has also been received with jubilation within the MDC circles as Chamisa will now be uncontested.
It remains to be seen if vice President Elias Mudzuri will bag a single nomination to qualify him to face off Chamisa come the 24th of May.
