By A Correspondent| The ousted former ZANU PF National Commissar Gen Engelbert Rugeje has responded to rumours that he was involved in an accident on Thursday.

It was reported that Gen Rugeje was Thursday afternoon hospitalised in Masvingo following the said car crash.

But an audibly fit Rugeje told ZimEye none of that ever happened.

Fears for Rugeje’s welfare came from the long established history of suspicious accidents that have affected most ZANU PF National Commissars since independence. Since 1980, every NPC has suffered either a humiliating exit, or a suspected assassination.

It is thought that Rugeje’s removal from the position last week was a result of serious infighting inside ZANU PF between Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy Constantino Chiwenga. It is for this reason and others that the angel of excommunication would hit him.

But Gen Rugeje speaking early Sunday morning, said

“Nothing of that sort happened” he said.

“I was never, I never even had an accident with a fly, ” he added.
