ZLHR Raises Red Flag Over ARTUZ Midlands Member Who Was Isolated From Others Following His Arrest

By A Correspondent- Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights who are representing members of the Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe have said that they are failing to locate one of their clients.

ZLHR say that top lawyer, Beatrice Mtwetwa and others are extremely worried about Godfrey Chanda @ARTUZ_teachers Midlands member.

Posting on Twitter, the lawyers said:

“.@ZLHRLawyers currently at Law & Order representing at least 9 people arrested for participating in @ARTUZ_teachers peaceful protests. Those arrested include @OMasaraure, a journalist Leopold Munhende & lawyer @DougColtart were also arrested.

@ZLHRLawyers Beatrice Mtwetwa, & others are extremely worried about Godfrey Chanda @ARTUZ_teachers Midlands member. He was isolated from others, lawyers failing to locate him at cells or at Law & Order. @advocatemahere @ZimHRNGOForum @zppinfo@SAHRDNetwork @AmnestySARO

ARTUZ members were arrested whilst presenting a petition to the Ministry of Finance.

Teachers are complaining about their paltry salaries which they say must be increased.-ZLHR
