FIVE notorious Shamva machete-wielding robbers have been arrested for stabbing and robbing a couple.

The five, Onias Sindura aged 30, Lameck Mabhiza(24), Brendan Mutasa(19), Kudakwashe Karima(23), Kushinga Munemo were not asked to plead when they appeared briefly at Bindura Magistrate court this Monday for stabbing a couple before robbing them of around USD40 000 in goods and cash.

However, there are three other suspects who are still at large.

The quintet was remanded in custody to this Wednesday.

The accused persons are facing charges of unlawful entry into premises in aggravating circumstances.

According to state papers, it was stated that on 30 0ctober last year, the accused armed with machetes descended on Simbarashe Dhenya’s(complainant) residence and ordered them to surrender all their possessions.

The complainant’s wife resisted the demands and was stabbed in the stomach.

Dhenya who also attempted to escape was stabbed both legs by some of the robbers manning the house.

After they were shown the safe, the accused ransacked the house and took possession of properties which include a plasma television, mobile phones, cash and smelted gold weighing 168grams and departed .
