By A Correspondent- Tragedy struck a Chirumanzu family after their minor girl, who is a grade three pupil at Chaka Primary School died on Saturday after she was struck by lightning.
Shalom Madiba from Chaka village under Chief Chirumanzu was pronounced dead on arrival at Driefontein hospital after the house she was in with 6 other family members was struck by lightning.
Said a witness:
“It was around 3pm and the weather just changed and it became frighteningly dark before it started raining. Lightning struck and everyone thought that several houses had been affected and that is when we noticed that only one house was burning.
There were seven people in that house, including the deceased and everyone rushed outside. At first, it looked like the minor had just been shocked because she was sticking her tongue out of her mouth and we rendered her first aid while rushing her to the nearest health centre which is Driefontein Hospital. She was unfortunately pronounced dead on arrival.”
The minor is set to be buried tomorrow.
