By A Correspondent| There was pandemonium at Budiriro 1 shopping centre (Sunday) when police details fired warning shots into the air after a crowd reportedly tried to rescue a wanted criminal who was reportedly evading arrest.

A source close to the developments told ZimEye that members of the CID had been chasing a wanted criminal movie style before they apprehended him at Budiriro 1 shopping centre.

Said an eyewitness on condition of anonymity:

“The people wanted to rescue the wanted criminal. One of the police details in plain clothes however fired a warning shot in the air.

The people however did not retreat, they would just run away and come back to try and assist the arrested suspected criminal.

The police fired the warning shots thrice, but the people still came back. They only ran away when a truck of soldiers passed by.”

ZimEye is currently seeking a comment from the police as this is a developing story.
