By A Correspondent- A Chitungwiza woman has been arrested for allegedly hiring thugs to physically assault her husband over a domestic dispute.

The husband, Owen Nyakudya, was left with bruises all over the body and cuts on palms after being beaten to a pulp and sliced with a knife by the thugs.

The woman, only identified as Mrs Nyakudya, was by yesterday still in police custody at St Mary’s Police Station.

Nyakudya told H-Metro that his wife had been arrested after hiring thugs to beat him up, following a misunderstanding over money.

“Thugs came to take me from my house and dragged me to a nearby bush where they thoroughly beat me up.

“They tied both hands and legs and forced me to eat mud before they started beating me up all over the body with various weapons. The hired men also sliced my palms with a knife,” he said.

The local councillor, Reginald Mashingaidze, also confirmed the incident. “I received reports that a Mrs Nyakudya hired thugs to physically assault her husband over a domestic dispute.

The woman has since been taken by police for investigations over the matter.

“As of now I have assisted with a vehicle to ferry him to St Mary’s Clinic, where he is getting medical assistance,” he said.

A source said that the men who assaulted Nyakudya were linked to the wife.

“Nyakudya had a dispute with his wife while drunk last night (Saturday) and the woman just left home only to return with several men.

“They started quarreling and when neighbors tried to intervene, the wife said the men were his brothers.

The same people are the ones who assaulted Nyakudya,” said the source.
