Ramaphosa Appoints Strive Masiyiwa To Save Africa From Covid-19

Zimbabwean billionaire Mr. Strive Masiyiwa Has been appointed to coordinate a private sector-led continental effort to produce critical personal protective equipment (PPE) and other essential supplies in the fight against covid 19 by the African Union chairman and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

This was announced during a teleconference meeting of the bureau of the assembly to the AU Heads of state  last week with chairpersons of the regional economic communities of the AU.

The African Leaders have agreed to work together in the fight of Covid 19 and acknowledged the efforts of African leader in their respective countries to contain the virus and adopt measures to mitigate against its socio-economic impact.

Strive Masiyiwa is the founder and executive chairman of the telecommunication, technology and renewable energy company Econet global. He is considered one Of Africa’s most generous humanitarians. Masiiwa also funds initiatives in public health by supporting a diverse range of Health issues including campaigns against HIV/AIDS, malnutrition and more recently Ebola. It’s no doubt why Ramaphosa has appointed him for the covid 19 pandemic.
