58 people tested positive for the corona virus this Friday.
Of the 58 people, 48 are local cases and 10 are returnees from South Africa.
In a daily Covid-19 update the Ministry of Health and Child Care said, “32 of the local cases are contacts of known confirmed cases. Investigations are underway to establish the source of infections for the other 16 cases.”
One more person has succumbed to Covid-19, the total now stands at 24.
“Today we regret to report 1 death at facility level in Bulawayo Province. The death is a 19-year-old male who tested positive for Covid-19 and had a co-morbidity.”
Cases continue to rise in Bulawayo, with 27 local cases being recorded yesterday, the total number of confirmed cases in the province is the highest in the country. The province accounts for 31% of all the cases in Zimbabwe.
Bulawayo has 446 confirmed cases, 411 local transmissions, 35 imported cases, 88 recoveries, 347 active cases and 11 deaths.
A total of 99 701 tests have been conducted since the onset of the outbreak in March this year.
