A cop at a roadblock in Masvingo today threatened to shoot a TellZim journalist. The police officer had demanded that Upenyu Chaota go back home as 'nobody' was allowed to get into town. The journalist was then detained for an hour & forced to sit on the ground. @misazimbabwe
Brandishing an assault rifle, the officer refused to accept Chaota's presscard saying he was illiterate and could not read. Under the Covid-19 national lockdown regulations, the media are considered an essential service provider. The lockdown is very tight in Masvingo today.
