Kaizer Chiefs veteran midfielder, Willard Katsande, was left out of the side that faced Angolan outfit, Primero de Agosto, last night in the Caf Champions League after testing positive for coronavirus.

South African media suggests that the former Zimbabwe Warriors captain was in self-isolation in South Africa and could not make it to Angola. Soccerladuma reported:

According to Siya sources close to the club, Katsande is believed to have tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently isolating.

Amakhosi’s veteran shot-stopper, Itumeleng Khune, was also not part of the squad in Angola that travelled to Angola but reasons for his absence were not stated.

Meanwhile, Katsande’s compatriot, Khama Billiat played a huge part in Kaizer Chiefs’ 1-0 victory against the Angolan outfit.

Billiat set off down the left flank before crossing into the goalmouth where co-striker Leonardo Castro kneed the ball past goalkeeper Tony Cabaça and into the net.

Amakhosi will now advance to the Champions League group stages with a 1-0 aggregate.

Kaizer Chiefs return to FNB Stadium on Saturday where they clash with Maritzburg United in a DStv Premiership tie.
