By A Correspondent- MDC-Alliance led by Nelson Chamisa has lost 45 Harare councillors who were elected on the party ticket in 2018.

The 40 have switched to the other MDC faction led by Douglas Mwonzora’s MDC-T to save their jobs from recalls.

MDC Alliance secretary-general Chalton Hwende revealed this at the weekend through his Twitter account.

He said the councillors who have kept their positions through switching allegiance to Mwonzora have resolved to support First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa’s projects in what would see President Emerson Mnangagwa’s wife forge partnerships with the country’s biggest local authority.

“All these Cllrs who have defected to Zanupf must never be voted again for betraying the will of the people of Harare. We are now left with only 5 Cllrs in Harare out of the 45 that were elected. Over 20 illegally recalled. Next week we will be naming and shaming these sellouts,” Hwende tweeted.
