President Emmerson Mnangagwa has highlighted the commissioning of the Holy-Cross Dam in Chirumhanzu as one of his greatest achievements in 2024. This announcement came as part of a broader reflection on his leadership and the accomplishments of the Second Republic, which he credits for a series of transformative projects across Zimbabwe.
In a statement on Monday, Zanu PF loyalist Tinotenda Nyamandu praised Mnangagwa for being a leader who “walks the talk.” Nyamandu emphasized that unlike some leaders who make empty promises, Mnangagwa has consistently delivered on his commitments since assuming office.
“We need leaders who walk the talk, and President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa is a shining example of that. Unlike some leaders who make empty promises, President Mnangagwa has been delivering on his commitments since taking office,” Nyamandu stated.
The Holy-Cross Dam, which Mnangagwa officially commissioned in Chirumhanzu, has been described as a key driver for rural industrialization and agro-innovation. According to Nyamandu, the dam marks a “game-changer” for the region, contributing to both the agricultural sector and the broader rural economy.
In addition to the dam, the Second Republic under Mnangagwa’s leadership has initiated several other notable projects:
Rural Industrialization: The Holy-Cross Dam is part of a larger effort to drive rural industrialization, with an emphasis on using local resources to boost agro-industries.
Education Reform: Mnangagwa launched the Heritage-Based Education 5.0 initiative, aimed at modernizing Zimbabwe’s education system while preserving African cultural heritage.
Infrastructure Development: The administration has focused heavily on improving the nation’s infrastructure, including the commissioning of the Shurugwi-Mhandamabwe road, a vital link for improving transportation and trade.
Economic Empowerment: The government has launched various economic development projects, including the establishment of rural industrial parks, aimed at empowering local communities and driving economic growth.
These projects, as outlined by Nyamandu, illustrate the administration’s focus on improving the country’s rural areas, education system, and infrastructure. According to Nyamandu, Mnangagwa’s achievements demonstrate that “he’s definitely a leader who delivers on his promises.”
The commissioning of the Holy-Cross Dam is viewed as a crucial milestone for Mnangagwa’s administration, underscoring his ongoing efforts to improve Zimbabwe’s economic and social landscape.
