On July 17, 2015, ZimPapers published a story in which it claimed Rita Chinyoka was fired from her position as Publisher of Alpha Media Holdings boss. The story was published based on information provided by a source, which is untrue and all the claims made therein unsubstantiated.
Zimpapers and The Herald have since retracted the story and unequivocally apologised to Ms Chinyoka for the distress, embarrassment and damage caused to her reputation, person and career.
A statement by the editor further said, “we further acknowledge that due care should have been taken to verify the story before publication and would like to assure Ms Chinyoka that there was no malice intended and sincerely wish her the best for the future.”
