By Staff Reporter | Former Zanu PF youth empowerment lobbyist, William Mutumanje also known as Acie Lumumba has been arrested.

Lumumba was arrested on Wednesday and is detained at Southerton Police Station. One of his attorneys, Kudayi Kadzere, told ZimEye.com that his client has been nabbed for defaulting one of his routine remand hearing sessions. “They have arrested him for defaulting court on a case in which he is being charged for smuggling a car from South Africa and is appearing at the Harare Magistrates’ courts tomorrow Thursday at 8:30 am,” said Kadzere.

Lumumba was arrested last year for allegedly forging a registration book for his mother’s vehicle, a Toyota Ipsum. It is alleged that Mutumanje’s mother asked him to sell the car on her behalf and he allegedly manufactured a fake registration before selling the vehicle. The former Zanu PF sympathizer last year made headlines after he insulted President Robert Mugabe at a press conference. He was arrested and charged with undermining the authority of the President.
