By Farai D Hove| Self Appointed Acting President of the MDC party Thokozani Khupe reached a dead end when her top aide, Lovemore Moyo quit the party.

On Sunday Khupe announced herself as the legitimate party Acting President banking on support from Moyo.

But Moyo has 4 days later, announced his resignation from the party in a statement to the Harare office on Thursday. Below was the full text:

Dear All,

Fellow Countryman, MDC family, colleagues and friends, it is with heavy heart that today, March 22, 2018 l announce my resignation as the National Chairman of the MDC T and a member of the party.

This decision was arrived at after seven months of soul searching, introspection and consultations whether should l continue as a member of the party or not.

The blantant disregard and violation of the party founding principles and values , such as non violence, non tribal, marginalization and non sexist clearly deviated from known character and culture . Also, continued violation of the constitution with impunity necessitated me to conclude that my continued association with the party is no longer beneficial to me and the party.

Let me take this great opportunity to thank all those who have stood by my side , supported me in good and bad times , the MDC family, colleagues and friends .

I shall always be indebted and grateful to your help, companionship and comradeship exhibited during the democratic struggle. May the Almighty God continue to bless our struggle and cause.
