By Paul Nyathi|The Maxwell Zeb Shumba led ZimFirst party has issued a public warning against the party faction leader Derreck Lupemba declaring him a fraudster.
A press statement released by the party’s information department on Saturday reads as follows:
Re: ZimFirst Presidential Candidate Dr. Maxwell Zeb Shumba and CODE Position
The ZimFirst Party herein communicates to the public and the media that a Dereck Lupemba who is issuing statements in the name of our party is no longer with ZimFirst. It is material fact that Dereck Lupemba was once appointed to the Presidential pre-election campaign national executive committee as non-elected office holder, a position he held until February 28, 2018.
ZimFirst Party is concerned with the reports that he has been approaching unsuspecting people seeking financial help using our party’s name, making claims that he is some Interim President of ZimFirst and claiming that ZimFirst is still a member of CODE. He is a fraud and those claims and the press statements he is issuing are both bogus and contemptuous. Our party’s lawyer, Advocate Thomas Nyakunika of Mupindu Legal Practitioners is currently seized with this matter.
On CODE membership, we further reiterate the ZimFirst position that has been previously widely published in the media that ZimFirst Party officially left CODE on March 3, 2018 and accordingly ZimFirst was not party to the April 14, 2018 CODE launch. For the record, Dr. Maxwell Zeb Shumba will be the Presidential Candidate in the 2018 elections and the party is looking forward to a very competitive race as we are confident that he will be the best candidate on the ballot. We are also happy to inform all concerned citizens and stakeholders that ZimFirst has started preparing for elections in earnest and is currently going through its Candidates Selection process that is headed by the party’s Election Committee Chairman Mr. Kesari Nyathi. The Party expects to field candidates in all 210 constituencies. In addition, ZimFirst is currently focused on selling on its country first, people first vision under the able and credible leadership of our Presidential Candidate Dr. Maxwell Zeb Shumba.
