By Own Correspondent| Former Zanu Pf stalwart Kudakwashe Bhasikiti is set to contest the forthcoming polls slated for July 30 under an MDC Alliance ticket.
Bhasikiti, who was chucked out of Zanu Pf in 2015 by former President Robert Mugabe for “being in the wrong basket” for allegedly supporting the ascendancy of former vice president Joice Mujuru to the presiding was during Mugabe’s reign Masvingo’s Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and legislator for Mwenezi East.
However, since his expulsion from the ruling party, Bhasikiti has openly declared his allegiance to the Gamatox faction pledging that his faction was in support of the MDC Alliance and its candidates.
After being ousted by the Mugabe led administration, Bhasikiti joined Zimbabwe People First then led by Dr Mujuru before joining the MDC Alliance.
Last Saturday, Bhasikiti was introduced by MDC Alliance presidential candidate Nelson Chamisa during the party’s campaign rally held at Rutenga Growth point.
Chamisa introduced Bhasikiti to the crowd and said MDC Alliance is like a church which welcomes everyone.
Said Chamisa, “We think Bhasikiti will be our best foot forward in Mwenezi as our candidate in the July 30 elections, does anyone disagree? I think he will make a good candidate for us.
Yes it is true that he was once in the wrong basket but he is now in the right place. The MDC Alliance is like a church where members worship under a tree, such a church will never fill up and we welcome everyone.”
