Residents of the ancient city of Masvingo have accused the city council of dismally failing to address the water crisis in the country’ s oldest town.
In a statement yesterday Masvingo Residents’ Trust Advocacy Officer Ephraim Mutombeni urged the local authority to address the critical shortage of water as a matter of urgency.
Below is Mutombeni’ s statement:
“The city council has chosen to remain mum in the wake of the critical water crisis the city is facing.
We have now gone for 5 days without water and the local authority has been silent.
We are demanding answers from the city council bosses. Why are they taking residents for granted? They must consider the gravity of the matter.
The council must come up with a permanent solution to the water crisis.
