By Own Correspondent| Newly elected Zanu-PF Senator for Seke, Tabeth Murwira together with 4 other accomplices were hauled before a Chitungwiza magistrate, Yeukai Chigodora jointly charged with kidnapping and destroying a man’s property over a political dispute.
Murwira together with her accomplices, Christopher Mujeyi (51), Cater Matengambiri (59), Kalisto Pemiwa (72) and Lawrence Guwa (65) however pleaded not guilty to th charges levelled against them and their trial is set to start on September 6.
Murwira was implicated in the matter after her vehicle was allegedly used in committing the offence. She however dismissed the claims as unfounded adding that the matter was political.
The court heard that on December 13 2017, Phillip Mashongahande (50) was sleeping in his shop at Cornerstone, Beatrice at night when the suspects arrived.
They knocked on his door and assaulted him the moment he opened it. They allegedly handcuffed Mashongahande and searched his shop.
One of the suspects allegedly tried to set the shop on fire while Mashongahande was inside. They left Mashongahande handcuffed in the shop and he was only rescued the following day by Constable Tinashe Katsuwa.-StateMedia
