By Own Correspondent| MDC Alliance principal and Spokesperson Welshman Ncube has revealed that while Alliance principals have not met since the elections, the coalition was still intact and it would definately participate in the 2023 elections in “whatever shape ir form”.
Ncube’s statements come in the wake of speculation that all was not well in the coalition, an assertion he dispelled in an interview with a local publication.
He however said because the Alliance principals had a written agreement to work together, it had the obligation to manage and direct office bearers who had been successfully elected into parliament and council on how to fulfil on their mandate.
Said Ncube:
“The alliance has Members of Parliament which the alliance has to manage and direct on how to do their work in Parliament in the next five years.
The alliance has councillors and it has responsibility to provide leadership in those councils. Everyone who won at whatever level won on the ticket of the alliance. The alliance, therefore, has all these people who are the responsibility of the alliance.
Obviously, there will be future elections in 2023. The alliance in whatever shape or form will obviously be in those elections.”
