A suspected poacher has been shot and killed by the Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) rangers while three others managed to escape after a gunfire exchange at Hwange National Park.

Zimparks public relations manager Mr Tinashe Farawo confirmed the incident and reminded the would-be poachers that the authority will continue with its zero tolerance to poaching as part of efforts to protect the country wildlife resources.

“We urge our citizens to take hid of the fact that national parks are no-go areas as we will do everything to protect our treasured wildlife resources,” he said.

A rifle was recovered after the gunfire exchange and according to the authority the net is closing in on the three suspected poachers who managed to escape.
