Zimbabweans are facing travel disruptions; this follows the only airplane that is operating at Air Zimbabwe was sent for repairs.

Air Zimbabwe released a statement and said their Boeing 767-200ER is undergoing a mandatory maintenance check from the 6th until the 19th of June.

“Management is working on alternative equipment arrangements in order to ensure normal service is resumed as from Tuesday, June 11,” the statement read.

The airline further said passengers already booked would be contacted and put on other airlines.

“Once the maintenance requirement is accomplished, the aircraft will be released back into service,” the statement added.

The airline recently received a new aeroplane, Embraer ERJ145 which is expected to ease the pressure on the current one.

Air Zimbabwe spokesperson told the media that the plane’s registration was completed last Friday.

“We are waiting to complete a few line items then we fly.”

Air Zimbabwe flies daily between Harare and Johannesburg and Harare and Bulawayo via Victoria Falls.

The airline’s troubles had been good for business for rivals like FastJet and South African Airways, who now move the bulk of passengers between those destinations.
