Farai Dziva|A caller from Liverpool has revealed that the Zimbabwe Netball players have been instructed to purchase their own “Asics” professional shoes for the Vitality World Cup starting today (Friday).

Zimbabwe faces Sri Lanka today, Friday.

The gems’ trip to the United Kingdom has been mired in controversy as government apparatchiks abused the funds donated by well-wishers to support the team.

As ZimEye.com aptly reported, thousands of dollars were squandered by government officials leaving the players stranded.

The gems were forced to camp at a substandard hotel while the government apparatchiks were ensconced in luxurious rooms.

“The food the players are eating is pathetic.

To make matters worse, the girls have been instructed to buy shoes for the tournament,” said the Liverpool caller.

Well-wishers have pledged to raise money to purchase the Asics professional shoes for the players.
