President Emmerson Mnangagwa is yet to reassign Engelbert Rugeje, the former ZANU PF Political Commissar to a new role.
This was revealed by Rugeje who told the Daily News that he remained at the mercy of the president. He said:
It is the president who makes the appointments so what I can tell you is that I am a committee member in the politburo. I cannot tell when I will be re assigned because it is not up to me. I am a full member of the politburo and that is it.
Mnangagwa had promised in June that he would reassign Rugeje to a new task but up to now, nothing has happened.
Rugeje who had taken over from Generation 40 (G40) leader, Saviour Kasukuwere as the ruling party political commissar was replaced by Victor Matemadanda who is also the Deputy Minister of Defence.
Reports suggest that ZANU PF is marred by factionalism and Mnangagwa would want to surround himself with his trusted lieutenants.
