By A Correspondent- Masvingo province in the last 5 months lost a total of 13 000 cattle due to the drought that was experienced in 2019, it has emerged.

This was revealed by Masvingo Acting Agritex Provincial Officer, Mr Aron Muchazivepi who spoke to the state media and said:

We have had too much of a dry spell, there is no grazing land anymore and so cattle are dying. Some of the deaths are forced slaughters after farmers realize that there is no alternative.

Matabeleland also lost over 21000 beasts due to the drought and over 115 elephants died in Hwange due to the drought that left half the country in need of food aid.
