The Thokozani Khupe led MDC-T has warned MDC Alliance legislators and councillors who allegedly deviate from the dictates of the original MDC that the party will not hesitate to recall them.
Following Monday’s MDC-T Standing Committee meeting, the Supreme Court created opposition party’s Acting President, Dr Thokozani Khupe has asserted her control and authority over the party declaring that all the 103 MDC Alliance MPs fall under her.
“MDC-T has 103 MPs in Parliament meaning that I am currently the leader of that political party which has 103 MPs in that Parliament,” highlighted Dr Khupe.
The MDC-T Secretary General, Senator Douglas Mwonzora noted that all MDC MPs should tow Khupe’s line or risk being recalled from Parliament.
“We also discussed the issue of recalls of councillors as well as members of parliament who have joined other political parties. We are going to proceed with these but we will deal with these on a case by case basis. Those who have joined other political parties cannot continue to represent us in Parliament. The High court ruled that we can continue our recalls. In other words the interdict that sought to stop us from recalling was dismissed by Justice Chitapi,” said Mwonzora.
Mwonzora castigated the faction led by Advocate Nelson Chamisa for being political drama queens fond of propaganda evident in their lies about the takeover of the Morgan Richard Tsvangirai building.
“We received a report on the handover and takeover of Morgan Tsvangirai House and this has been a subject of a lot of propaganda which has unfortunately sucked in some of the countries in this world because of the images that were broadcast by our colleagues. We view it as malicious to suggest that the handover takeover of this building involved the army and the police. The army has been patrolling the streets since the declaration of the lockdown,” noted Mwonzora.
