Police have launched a manhunt for Former Bindura Deputy Mayor Nobert Dhokotera of the MDC Alliance who is now a fugitive after failing to appear in court.

Dhokotera was recalled by the MDC-T last Tuesday and is now on the police wanted list after failing to appear in court for assaulting his superior and former Mayor, Carlos Tokyo with whom he is jointly accused of leaking information to the council land audit team.

The state issued a warrant of arrest for the fugitive Dhokotera saying he abused his bail privileges by absconding.

The MDC-Alliance official is believed to have fled to South Africa.

Dhokotera was on suspension for misconduct, before he was expelled alongside former mayor Tokyo last Tuesday.
