JUST IN: Police Arrest Human Rights Lawyer At Magistrates Court

JUST IN: Police have arrested human rights lawyer Webster Jiti at Harare Magistrates Court as he was consulting with his clients Takudzwa Ngadziore and Tapiwanashe Chiriga both leaders of the Zimbabwe Nationalk Students Union (ZINASU).

The police claim that Jiti undermined their authority.

The two ZINASU leaders were appearing in court today.

Jiti has since been released without charge.

“We are relieved that our lawyer @JitiWebster has now been released by @PoliceZimbabwe without any charges preferred against him after he was arrested & detained for allegedly undermining police authority with claims that he had made noise in corridors at Harare Magistrates Court,” said the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR).
