Political Parties Come and Go – Chief Charumbira

“Political parties come and go but our relationship as a people will remain forever and ever,” said Chief Charumbira at the funeral of Mbuya Chifamba in ward 11 of Masvingo District.

Mbuya Chifamba died on Wednesday after a long illness and she was over 85.

She left a husband, 8 sons, 1 daughter and several grandchildren.

Chief Charumbira urged people to unite and shun political violence during elections.

“Each person must be allowed to exercise his or her democratic right to campaign or vote for a political party of choice.

We are relatives in this community therefore those who come to campaign must not leave us divided or in hatred,” said Chief Charumbira.

“We know political parties during elections time they come with vote buying and empty promises .That should not divide us.Each person should vote as per his or her choice”he said.

The funeral was attended by MDC Alliance provincial leaders Ms Matara, Cllr Mberikunashe,Heya Shoko ,Jeffryson Chitando and Paul Rimai.

“I know Chiminya, Chitando and Shoko we were together at Parliament. You can ask them they were sharing same tables during lunch with ZanuPF Mps hapana kumborovana asi vaitengerana sadza ivava imi kuno muchiudzwa zvokurovana.We must put that to stop” said Chief Charumbira.

“Ini saMambo wenyu handide kuti chikafu chinopihwa vanhu ndigonzwa kuti panyimwa munhu nokuda kwekuti ndewe party ipi ! Kana chanzi its for 80 year olds munhu wese ngaapihwe anotadza kupihwa must be 79year and below kwete zvekuti ndewe MDC kana ZanuPF” he said to wild cheering from mourners.

Chiminya a former MDC Alliance Masvingo West Member of Parliament thanked the President of Chief for his uniting and apolitical speech.

Ward 11 of Masvingo District (Masvingo West) is known for the political violence which claimed the lives of Petros Jeke and Tichaona Chiminya who was killed in Buhera but buried few homestead from Mbuya Chifamba’s homestead.

” Muno mazvihwira Mambo vachitaura kuti tinosiya poukama kana toita zvematingogwe enyika.Hatichada vanoita basa rokutuka vanhu nokurova vanhu tiri hama nehama.Chief uku ndiko kunonzi kugonesa semagariro enyu Sipambi makuma.”
