Martin Zubimendi netted the decisive goal in Spain’s 1-0 victory over Denmark in their UEFA Nations League match on Saturday night.

This win positions Luis de la Fuente’s team at the top of Group 4 in League A, now with seven points from three matches, while Denmark slips to second with six points.

Zubimendi had a promising opportunity in the 19th minute, but his shot hit the side-netting. Shortly after, Alvaro Morata narrowly missed the post during a strong period of play for La Roja.

As the first half progressed, Denmark found their rhythm, with Christian Eriksen influencing the game. However, Spain created another chance right before the break, with Lamine Yamal firing over the bar after a clever setup from Pedro Porro.

Fabian Ruiz threatened early in the second half, also hitting the side-netting. Spain continued to dominate, but Denmark held firm defensively, blocking numerous attempts and protecting their penalty area vigorously.

Kasper Schmeichel made an impressive save to deny Morata just after the hour mark, and the two collided shortly afterward, with the goalkeeper again emerging unscathed.

The breakthrough finally came in the 79th minute when Zubimendi volleyed from outside the box, a shot that slipped through Schmeichel’s hands.

Spain’s dominance was evident with 25 attempts on goal, making the three points crucial, secured thanks to Zubimendi’s crucial contribution.
