By A Correspondent | ZimEye | The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have confirmed a brazen armed robbery at Alpha Omega Farm in Marondera, believed to belong to the in-laws of controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo.

According to a press statement released today by the police, the incident occurred in the early hours of the morning at around 1:00 AM, when a gang of approximately 20 armed suspects stormed the property. The suspects, who are still at large, were reportedly armed with rifles, pistols, bolt cutters, machetes, and iron bars.

ZRP revealed that the attackers overpowered security personnel at the farm before proceeding to assault family members, cutting burglar screens and forcing their way into the family home. The gang made off with USD 74,100 in cash, a firearm, and several high-end mobile devices, including Samsung S24 and S23 models, as well as a Samsung Galaxy A35.

The police have launched a full-scale investigation and are appealing to members of the public for any information that could lead to the identification and arrest of the suspects.

In a statement signed by Commissioner Nyathi P., Chief Staff Officer for Press and Public Relations, the ZRP urged anyone with relevant information to contact the National Complaints Desk at 0242 703631 or via WhatsApp at 0712 800 197.

The incident is likely to draw significant public attention due to its link to Chivayo’s family and the scale of the attack.
