By A Correspondent| Houses for war veterans are taking shape across the country, with several having been completed in urban areas to offer decent accommodation to stalwarts of the country’s liberation struggle.
The 3 bedroomed houses will also include a solar-powered borehole and will benefit thousands of people across the country under the newly launched Presidential War Veterans Rural Housing Scheme, which is geared towards complementing other schemes.
The programme is aimed at providing decent housing for war veterans while ensuring they benefit from solar energy schemes.

Special Presidential Investment Adviser Dr Paul Tungwarara, who implemented the hugely successful War Veterans Fund, said while the houses are bigger and a reflection of the role war veterans played in liberating the country.
“There were some uninformed and unfounded criticisms when the programme began, but the houses that you see now (in the picture) are the ones that war veterans will get, we have two plans, one for urban settings and another for rural areas,” said Dr Tungwarara.
War veterans are looking forward to the programme, as they are already reaping benefits from the Presidential War Veterans Fund that left no place and no place behind.
